Top of the Rock, New York City

I love when people visit me in New York.  It’s the perfect excuse to do all the touristy things I would never do on my own.  I’ve wanted to visit the observation deck at Rockefeller Center, known as Top of the Rock, and the weather this weekend was dry and clear.  The views of Central Park and the Empire State Building were fantastic.  On a clear day, you can see all the way to the George Washington Bridge on the north side and the Statue of Liberty on the south side.

Central Park.

Empire State Building.

Coin-operated binoculars.

Praying mantis.

Above the decks on the 67th and 69th floors, which are enclosed in safety glass, is an open air deck where you have an unobstructed 360-degree view of the city.  It’s pretty cool, even for a New Yorker.

Upper level.

Inside the 67th floor of Rockefeller Center.

Crystal light fixture in entrance to observation deck.

Tickets to Top of the Rock are $25 for adults.  For $38, you can get a Sun & Stars ticket, which allows you to enter twice on the same date – during the day when it’s light and at night when the city is lit up.

Hi, I'm Koren! I started this blog back in 2012, when I was an unhappy lawyer living in New York City. I needed a creative outlet, and I've always loved writing, photography, and travel. Little did I know, this blog would end up changing my life! Since then, I've moved to California and done a total life and career transformation. After a five-year hiatus, I'm excited to share recent photography here.

  • So glad I stumbled onto your blog! New York is my first stop on a round the world trip and the friend I’m staying with said exactly the same as you. She’s loving having me as an excuse to do all the things new yorkers are supposed to be too cool to do!

So far I think I’m loving the back streets of Soho the best. So many little pieces of coolness 🙂

    • So glad you’re loving New York! Soho is one of my favorite neighborhoods, but they all have a very distinct character. Good luck on your trip! Will you be updating your blog as you travel?
