Climb the pink staircase and you’ll find Encore, a small consignment shop with a large clothing selection harboring several hidden gems.  You may have to sift through a few racks to find them, but they’re there.  Encore doesn’t have a large handbag selection, but the prices are very reasonable.  Bonus – you can check out Bis, the consignment shop next door, on the way out.

Desiger’s Resale, 322 East 81st Street.

Designer’s Resale is a fun store with large clothing collection.  The three-room store has walls dedicated solely to sparkly camis, skirts, pants, coats, and anything else you can imagine.  The store is spotless.  There is a large wall of handbags from many designers including Burberry, Lauren Merkin and Carlos Falchi.  There is a large shoe wall containing shoes of varying quality and price.

Second Time Around, 1040 Lexington Avenue.

Second Time Around is the chain of consignment shops featured on Bravo TV‘s Fashion Hunters.  The 1040 Lexington Avenue store is home to a huge selection of contemporary yet affordable clothing from designers such as Tory Burch, Marc Jacobs and DVF.  Everything in the store is fun and girly and caters to a younger clientele than some of the other Upper East Side consignment shops.  There is a large shoe wall and a collection of handbags behind the counter.

A Second Chance Designer Resale, 1109 Lexington Avenue.

A Second Chance – one word: CHANEL.  A Second Chance has the largest collection of Chanel handbags, jewelry and accessories on the Upper East Side.  We’re talking walls and walls of new or like-new Chanel handbags.  In addition to Chanel, A Second Chance has an extensive collection of Louis Vuitton handbags and accessories.  The two-room shop dons pink hangers and crystal chandeliers – it’s like shopping in a couture candy shop!  A Second Chance also has a small clothing collection, but the main reason to shop there is to indulge your obsession for designer handbags and accessories.

Michael’s, 1041 Madison Avenue.

Michael’s has an impeccably curated selection of high-end clothing and accessories.  The two-story shop has a massive selection of handbags and shoes from all the top designers.  If you wear fur, you’ll have your choice of several fur coats and fur winter accessories.  If you’re looking for a belt, Michael’s is the place.  The store is clean and the clothing selection is large.  If you go consignment shopping on the Upper East Side, Michael’s is an absolute must.
