    Hanoi, Vietnam

    April 27, 2016December 25, 2018

I didn’t fall in love with Hanoi the way I did with other cities in Asia. However, there’s an area of the city where train tracks run through the narrow alleys between houses that is quite special.

The Donghuamen Night Market, a night market outside the Forbidden City in Beijing, used to offer a variety of Chinese delicacies. Apparently the market closed in 2016 due to hygiene and noise complaints.

I was fortunate to stay in a Hutong in Beijing — a neighborhood made up of small narrow streets and alleys. If you’re looking to stay somewhere that feels more local, I highly recommend staying in a Hutong.

    Great Wall of China

    March 29, 2015December 25, 2018

You can hike several different areas of the Great Wall. Do a quick search online to see how far each area is from Beijing, how busy it will be, and how much it’s been restored. We chose to hike from Jinshanling to Simatai, across both restored and unrestored sections of the Wall.

Masaya Volcano is located a little over 10 miles south of Managua in Masaya Volcano National Park.  I visited the volcano with some friends I met in Granada on my way to the airport in Managua. On the way up the mountain, you’ll see a large cross.  Apparently the cross was built to ward off

I arrived in Granada early in the morning from San Juan del Sur.  It was an unexpected arrival and I had no time to find a place to stay in advance.  I asked to be dropped off by Parque Central because I knew it was surrounded by hotels and, being a more touristy area, would
