I Meditate New York: Recharge through Meditation

It’s no secret that life can be stressful, and life in New York is no exception.  Most of us have come up with at least a few ways to combat the perpetual anxiety – happy hour, the gym, the dog park, etc.  When regular activities stop providing you a necessary respite, or you want to try something new and healthy, head to I Meditate New York.

I Meditate New York is a “meditation movement empowering New Yorkers to do more of the things they love by recharging through meditation.”  I Meditate New York‘s launch event in 2011 resulted in one of the largest group meditations in New York history, attended by approximately 2700 people.  I Meditate New York is brought to you by The Art of Living Foundation, a non-profit whose mission it is to “create a stress-free, violence-free planet.”

Free Meditation Classes

I Meditate New York offers free guided meditation classes on Mondays and Fridays from 6:30 to 8pm at the Art of Living Center at 285 Fifth Avenue (5th Floor).  You will learn to recharge your mind through several breathing techniques and a 20-minute meditation.  The meditation is premised on the following principles: I do nothing; I want nothing; I am nothing.  Classes are personal and participants are encouraged to get to know one another. This past Friday’s class was attended by approximately 25 people from around the world.

So, next time you’re feeling stressed, head to I Meditate New York to relax and recharge through the ancient art of meditation.

  1. So…is it like yoga without the movement? Considering my favorite part of yoga is child’s pose, this has peaked my interest:-)
